This policy explains what personal information Ryde Digital collects through this website, why, and what your rights are. We keep it short because we only collect what we need to reply to you.

Who we are

This website is run by Ryde Digital Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16896529). Registered office: 22 The Nursery, Sutton Courtenay, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, OX14 4UA, United Kingdom. We are the controller of the personal information described here.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry, we collect the details you type into the form:

  • your name and email address
  • your phone number, if you choose to give it
  • what your enquiry is about, what you want to achieve, and your rough budget
  • which page of the site you sent it from

When you email us, we receive whatever you include in your email.

When you visit the site, our hosting provider’s servers automatically log technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is standard for any website and is used to keep the site running and secure. To stop spam, the enquiry form also keeps a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for one hour to limit repeated submissions.

Cookies and tracking

When you first visit, we ask whether you accept analytics and advertising cookies. If you choose Reject, none of the tools below run. You can change your mind any time with the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page.

If you choose Accept, we use:

  • Google Analytics (Google), to understand how many people visit, which pages they read and how they found us.
  • Meta Pixel and Conversions API (Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram), to measure and improve our own adverts: for example, how many enquiries an ad brought in, and showing our ads to people likely to be interested. When you send an enquiry after accepting, we also send Meta a scrambled (hashed) version of your email address, phone number and name so it can match the enquiry to an ad. Meta cannot read the original details from this.

Cookies used:

  • ryde_consent: remembers your choice (6 months). Always set once you choose, because it’s needed to respect that choice.
  • ryde_xid: a random ID used to recognise repeat visits for ad measurement (1 year). Only if you accept.
  • _fbp, _fbc: set by Meta (up to 90 days). Only if you accept.
  • _ga, _ga_*: set by Google Analytics (up to 2 years). Only if you accept.
  • WordPress login cookies: only for our own team when managing the site.

Our lawful basis for these tools is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Google and Meta may process this data outside the UK under the safeguards described below. You can also control Meta ad settings in your Facebook or Instagram account.

Why we use it

We use your enquiry details only to reply to you, discuss the work you’ve asked about and, if you go ahead, set up and deliver that work. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us, and taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.

We don’t sell your information, we don’t add you to a mailing list, and we don’t use it for anyone else’s marketing.

Who can see it

Your enquiry is read by Kob at Ryde Digital. It’s stored by the service providers we rely on to run the business, who only process it on our instructions:

  • our website host (IONOS), where the site and a copy of each enquiry are stored
  • Google Workspace, our email provider, which delivers enquiries to our inbox
  • Google (Analytics) and Meta (Pixel and Conversions API), only if you accept cookies, as described above

Some of these providers, including Google, may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they’re required to protect it with safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or approved standard contractual clauses.

We’ll only share your information with anyone else if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

If your enquiry doesn’t lead to work together, we delete it within 24 months. If you become a client, we keep what we need for as long as we work together and for as long as required for tax and accounting records afterwards.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of the information we hold about you
  • correct anything that’s wrong
  • delete your information
  • stop or limit how we use it, or object to us using it
  • send your information to you or another organisation in a usable format

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We’d appreciate the chance to put it right first.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use personal information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
